Clara Gertrude Allender, 99, of Viola died Nov. 12, 2002, at Batesville Nursing and Rehab.
Born June 3, 1903, in Viola, she was the daughter of James Thomas and Ollie Ann Brown Cooper.
She married Ralph Wilson in 1923. He preceded her in death and she married Lyle Asher whose stage name was Tex Slocum. He preceded her in death in January of 1963 and she married Jesse Meryl Allender in 1974. He preceded her in death October 1990.
She was a professional rodeo performer from 1926 to 1937. She was a member of the AF of L and CIO; the hospital organization 225 in San Francisco; and Viola Baptist Church.
Survivors include a brother, Randall Cooper of Denver, Colo.; two sisters -- Pearl Ellis and Edith Freeman, both of Concord, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by four brothers -- Amiel Cooper, Arthur Cooper, Earl Cooper and Ralph Cooper; four sisters -- Alpha Bridges, Lucille Moerer, Ann Van Gilder, and Virgie Cooper; and her parents.
The funeral was Nov. 15 at Cox-Blevins Chapel with John Hodges officiating. Burial was in Flint Springs Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem.
