George E. Colles, 88, of Cherokee Village died Aug. 25, 2006, at the Baptist Medical Center in Little R ock.
He was born Sept. 5, 1917, at Schewaing, Mich., the son of Thomas and Mary Ann (Leoffler) Colles.
He was a petroleum engineer for Phillips Oil Company for 47 years, a talented golfer and a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Cherokee Village.
Survivors include his wife, Lynne Colles of the home; two sons, Mike Colles of Dublin, Ohio, and Jim Colles of Greenfield, Ind.; three daughters, Sandy Forbes of Denville, N.J., Kathy Waggoner of Moore Park, Calif., and Jo Ann Hatfield of Indianapolis, Ind.; two sisters, Adella Fairless and Mary Stacks, both of Flint, Mich.; seven stepchildren; 19 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Trudy (Backman) Colles.
Memorial services were held Aug. 29 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Cherokee Village. Arrangements were under the direction of the Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
