George Herman Coble of Viola, son of the late William George Coble and Sallie Ann Carroll Coble, was born June 21, 1925, in Union, Ark. He died Feb. 18, 2006, at his home at the age of 80.
He was united in marriage to Lillie Mae Montgomery on July 20, 1947, at Viola. To this union, five children were born.
He served in the United States Army during World War II.
During his working years, he was a heavy equipment mechanic. He was a member of the Wild Cherry Methodist Church and an avid hunter fisherman.
Survivors include his wife, Lillie Mae of the home; his children, Faye and Jim Cantrell of Jacksonville, Texas, Dale and Sandy Coble of Kilgore, Texas, Judy and Benny Nettles of Bald Knob, Beula and Norman Sharp of Hardy, and Alvin and Glenna Coble of Byran, Texas; 14 grandchildren; a sister, Ellen Tackett of West Plains; and one nephew, Rex Tackett.
He was preceded in death by one sister and his father and mother.
The funeral services were held Feb. 22 at Cox-Blevins Chapel in Salem. Burial followed in the Hebron Cemetery near Viola with the arrangements under the direction of Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem.
