Gerald (Jerry) Hobbs of Ash Flat, Ark., son of the late Maurice and Lillian (Rose) Hobbs, was born on Oct. 14, 1930, in Lyndon, Kan.
He died Jan. 22, 2007, at the Ash Flat Nursing and Rehab Center at the age of 76.
Hobbs was married to Iva Aldine Parks on Oct. 26, 1963, at Las Vegas, Nev. He worked as an electrician for St. Francis Hospital in Topeka, Kan. He was a member of the Carbondale Baptist Church in Carbondale, Kan., life member of the VFW Post 11255 of Carbondale, and served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Iva Hobbs of Ash Flat; one brother, Richard Hobbs of Burney, Calif.; two sisters, Lillian Heilman of Osage City, Kan., and Correne Bowman of Topeka; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a stepdaughter, Nancy L. Ward; a stepson, David L. Newton; two brothers, Leonard and Malcolm Hobbs; and a sister, Patricia Yockey.
The funeral services were held Jan. 25 at the Barker Funeral Home Chapel in Salem with Bro. Warren Newman officiating. Interment was in the Salem Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem.
Memorials are preferred to the Elizabeth Baptist Church in Elizabeth, Ark.
