Goldie McCollum of Morriston, Ark., daughter of the late William Herman Pitchford and Martha Mondena Bogart Pitchford, was born June 14, 1926. She died Dec. 26, 2005, at Fulton County Hospital in Salem at the age of 79.
She was married to Gerald McCollum on July 25, 1941, in Morriston. To this union 10 children were born. She was employed for many years by the Tri-County Shirt Factory, but her main focus was always her children and grandchildren. She was a member of Saddle Baptist Church.
Survivors include her children, Ray (Sharlene) McCollum of Morriston, Willard (Judy) McCollum of Agnos, Jerlene (Truman) Sisney of Ash Flat, Wanda (Les) Lambert of Ash Flat, Martha McCollum of Cherokee Village, Clyde (Debbie) McCollum of Ash Flat, Claude McCollum of Morriston, Joyce (Jimmie) Cherry of Agnos, Brenda (Danny) White of Mammoth Spring and Rhonda (Darin) Young of Glencoe; 24 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; one brother, Herbert Pitchford of Glencoe; sisters, Dessie McCollum of Morriston, Iva Collins of Salem, Fay Lambing of Dixon, Ill., and May Eller of St. Louis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two great-grandchildren, Emily Grace Smith and Katie Maylee Lingenfelter; a sister, Jessie Hester; four brothers, Wes, Lenard, Kenneth and Jim Pitchford; a special daughter-in-law, Diane McCollum; and her father and mother.
The funeral service was held Dec. 29 at Salem First Baptist Church with burial following in the Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Cox-Blevins Funeral Home.
