George Thomas Bean, 81, died Nov. 8, 2006, at his residence.
He was born March 5, 1926, in Burlington, Iowa, the son of George Edward Bean and Margarette Coughlin.
He was united in marriage to Linda Stever Bean. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and retired as first sergeant. He was in World War II, China, Korea and Vietnam. He was a member of the 1st Marine Division Association, the American Legion, and Northeast Arkansas Pipe Puffers.
He retired as a research mechanic for Caterpillar Tractor.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Bean; three sons, George Gordon Bean of Cherokee Village, Jeffery Ray Bean of Cherokee Village; Delbert Thomas Bean of Cherry Point, N.C.; two grandchildren, Millicent and Suzanne Bean.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Bean; his mother, Margarette Bean; two brothers, Delbert E. Bean and Virgil Bean; and one sister, Clara L. Wilder.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Heath Oak Hill Chapel of Hardy.
