Georgina Helen Wanley, 79, of Cherokee Village died Aug. 20, 2003, at Eaglecrest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Ash Flat.
Born Sept. 6, 1923, in Defiance, Ohio, she was the daughter of Margaret Delarber Masterson and Christofer Masterson.
She was a retired elementary school teacher and a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church of Cherokee Village. She was the co-founder of Eastern Ozarks Hospice, a member of the League of Women Voters and cared for homeless animals. She was also a member of the synchronized swim team.
Survivors include two sons -- James and Jan Wanley of New Castle, Ind., and Thomas Wanley of Washington, D.C.; three daughters -- Mary Lou Wanley of Cherokee Village, Patricia Wanley of Silver Springs, Md., and Pamela Jo Kilpatrick of Cherokee Village; a brother, Cornelius Masterson of Toledo, Ohio; and a sister, Henrietta Gackle of Defiance, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Wanley, and her parents.
The funeral was Aug. 23 at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Father Tony Wilwerding officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery in Defiance with local arrangements under the direction of Heath Funeral Home of Hardy.
