Eva Mae Sipe Helm, 90, of Sidney died Dec. 2, 2001, in a local hospital.
Born April 6, 1911, in Lunenburg, she was the daughter of Noah H. and Carrie Love Sipe. She married Stanley Richard Helm June 3, 1938. She spent her life as an educator in Couch, Mo., and other Missouri schools for eight years, and in Sidney and Viola for another 30 years.
She was a student at Arkansas College where she graduated magna cum laude in 1959. She was a life member of the Arkansas Retired Teachers Association and a member of the National Retired Teachers Association. She was also a member of the American Association of Retired Persons and Baptist Church. She is the reigning Miss Sharp Nursing Home 2001.
Survivors include two sons -- Bobby Helm of West Plains, Mo., and Jack Helm of Sidney; a sister, Lillian Westmoreland of Sidney; three grandchildren, -- Chris Helm of Sidney, Mary Dougherty of West Plains, and Jamie Crutcher of Rosie; and three great-grandchildren, Savannah Helm and Luke Helm, both of Sidney, and Bailee Dougherty of West Plains.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother, Ernest Sipe.
The funeral was Dec. 5 at Sidney Baptist Church with the Rev. Alvin Wiles and the Rev. Gary Wallace officiating. Burial followed in Barren Fork Cemetery at Mount Pleasant.
Arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Crouch McGee Funeral Home of Cave City.
