Hazel E. Wandless, 85, of Cherokee Village died May 2, 2006, at the Fulton County Hospital in Salem. She was born March 6, 1921, in Kensett, Ark., the daughter of John Lafayette Neal and Clara E. Barber Neal. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Wandless on Oct. 14, 1966, in Wilmington, Ill.
She worked as an accountant for the United States government for many years before retiring.
She moved with her husband to Cherokee Village in 1989 from Illinois. Mrs. Wandless was a member of the Cherokee Village Lions Club.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Wandless of the home; one son, Terry Bennett of Essex, Ill.; two daughters, Elaine Collett of Aurora, Colo., and Ellen Malinowski of Wassau, Wis.; two stepsons, Kenneth David Wandless of Aken, S.C., and John Wandless of Wilmington, Ill.; one stepdaughter, Karen Black of Jacksonville, Fla.; one brother, Vernon Neal of Jonesboro, Ark.; one halfbrother Steve Tooley of Marion, Ill.; one sister, Johnney Archanbo of Jacksonville, Fla.; and 10 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Allen Bennett.
A memorial service will be held May 19 at 10 a.m. at Tri-County Funeral Home in Highland.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland.
