Norma C. (Hawkins) Peterson Vaughn of the Ash Flat Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, formerly of Cherokee Village, died Sept. 22, 2006, at the nursing home in Ash Flat.
She was born Nov. 2, 1925, in Detroit, Mich., the daughter of the late Lynn and Lillian Hawken. She was united in marriage to her first husband, Samuel R. Peterson, on Dec. 19, 1942, in Detroit. He preceded her in death on Nov. 17, 1979.
She worked as a CNA for the Fulton County Hospital, was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by three sons, Larry Peterson of Ft. Myers, Fla., Richard Peterson of Inkster, Mich., and Terry Peterson of Cherokee Village; two daughters, Diana L. Garrett of Cherokee Village, and Nancy Pushe'e of Troy, Mich.; one brother, Larry Hawken of Tampa, Fla.; one sister, Betty Middleton of Cherokee Village; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, first husband and second husband, James W. Vaughn, she was preceded in death by one son, Roger Peterson, and one brother, Lynn Hawken.
No funeral service is planned but a memorial service will be announced at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to the Aids Research Foundation, The American Heart Disease Association or the Ash Flat Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in the name of Norma C. Vaughn.
