Ruth Allene Higdon, 80, of Bay died Jan. 24, 2002, at Poughkeepsie.
Born Dec. 29, 1921 in Nashville, Tenn., she was a homemaker and had lived in Bay for 52 years. She was a member of Aldup Free Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include her husband, Aaron Higdon; three sons -- Marvin Higdon of Poughkeepsie, William Higdon and John Higdon, both of Bay; three daughters -- Frances Allen of Springfield, Mo., Martha Martin of Iron City, Tenn., Mary Pagen of Poughkeepsie; two brothers -- George Harris of Bay and Elijah "Buddy" Thomas of Hot Springs; two sisters -- Nell Pendell of Jonesboro and Jean Thomas of Hot Springs; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Benny Lee Harris; three sisters -- Marie Pendergraft, Dell Mae Riddle, and Virginia Harris; two grandsons -- David Lee Martin and Aaron Charles Allen; and a great-grandson, Toby Allen Pagen.
The funeral was Jan. 27 at Roller Farmers Union Chapel with Benny Ison officiating. Burial followed at Pine Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Terry Martin, Michael Pagen, Danny Stone, Timothy Martin, Tommy Pagen and Scotty Tidwell.
Honorary pallbearers were Ralph Kain, Jimmy Heath, Johnny Pagen and Harles Bank.
Memorials may be made to Eastern Ozarks Regional Health System's Hospice in Cherokee Village.
