H. B. "Patch" Higginbottom, 80, of Poughkeepsie died April 3, 2002, at his home.
Born Dec. 9, 1921, near Poughkeepsie, he was the son of Cleo and Virgie Butts Higginbottom. He was a farmer, worked several years for the Sharp County Road Department, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he received numerous medals including the Purple Heart. He was of the Church of Christ faith.
Survivors include his wife, Lanell Heath Higginbottom; two sons -- Hardy Higginbottom and Kelsey Higginbottom, both of Poughkeepsie; two daughters -- Viva Daugherty of Poughkeepsie, and Betty Jo Brown of Gould; a sister, Cleotta Olson of Sedalia, Mo.; two grandchildren -- Josh Higginbottom of Poughkeepsie, and Danny Brown of Fayette-ville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers -- Gordon Higginbottom, Bart Higginbottom and Billy Mack Higginbottom.
The funeral was April 5 at Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with W.E. Norris and C.C. Baird officiating. Burial followed in Spotts Cemetery at Poughkeepsie.
Pallbearers were Michael Higginbottom, Ray Runsick, Eugene Heath, Rick Himes, Ewell Heath and Marty Himes.
Arrangements were under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
