Harold Kenneth Jackson was born the son of Alvah Jackson and Winnie Gualt Jackson on Aug. 25, 1921, in Myron, Ark. He died Feb. 6, 2007, in Jonesboro, Ark., at the age of 85.
He was united in marriage Jan. 2, 1943, in Salem to Lela Sheppard.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving his country during World War II. He was stationed in Germany for many months, attached to the Mobile 116th Evacuation Hospital. He was a contract mail carrier and was also an independent insurance agent for many years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 55 in Mammoth Spring and a member of the Star Route Mail Carriers Association. He was a member of the Mammoth Spring Church of Christ.
He is survived by: his wife, Lela of the home in Mammoth Spring; one son, Gregory Jackson and wife Brenda of Salem; three grandchildren, Jacob Smith and wife Kathy of Salem, Zachary Smith of Salem and Lindsey Smith of Sherman, Texas; one great-grandson, Calvin Smith of Salem; one brother, Gerald Jackson and wife Nina of Franklin; one sister, Myrlene Hastings and husband Donald of West Plains, Mo.; two sisters-in-law, Odessa Haney of Mammoth Spring and Jean Huton of Hardy; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Feb. 9 at the Mammoth Spring Church of Christ in Mammoth Spring with Lee Moses officiating. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery in Mammoth Spring.
Services were under the direction of the Carter Funeral Home of Thayer.
