Harold J. Renner, 93, of Hardy died Oct. 14, 2002, at White River Medical Center in Batesville.
Born Jan. 15, 1909, in Lebanon, Ill., he was the son of Bert H. Renner and Dora Wilson Renner. He was a graduate of Blackburn College in Carlinville, Ill.; the Illinois State University in Normal, Ill.; and the University of Illinois in Champaign, Ill. He was an elementary school teacher for a country school in central Illinois for many years. He was also an elementary school principal in Gillespie, Ill., Beardstown, Ill., and Bellwood, Ill. He taught airplane mechanics in the Army Air Corp at Biloxi, Miss., and Gulfport, Miss., during World War II. His last eight years before retirement were spent as assistant superintendent of schools in Bellwood.
He married Elva Feldman Dec. 25, 1941, in Springfield, Ill. He retired and moved to the Hardy area in 1973. He was active in the Kiwanis Club, the Dogwood Campers and First United Methodist Church in Hardy.
Survivors include a daughter, Kathryn R. McLean of Batesville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and a son, Harold L. Renner.
The funeral was Oct. 18 at Tri-County's Cherokee Chapel in Highland with the Rev. Tom Rhoades officiating. Burial was in College Hill Cemetery in Lebanon, Ill., Oct. 19.
Arrangements were under the direction of Tri-County's Cherokee Chapel of Highland.
