Hilda Montgomery Summers, 88, died March 12, 2003, at Craighead Nursing Center in Jonesboro.
Born May 11, 1914, in Craighead County, she was a lifelong resident of Craighead County, was a homemaker and a charter member of First General Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Norma and Tommy Meridith of Cherokee Village; three sisters -- Nora Golden of Jonesboro, Ernestine Bradford of Rock Falls, Ill., and Jerolene Peace of Phoenix, Ariz.; a grandchild, Steve Meridith and his wife, Toni; and two great-grandchildren -- Secret Rackley and Cody Phillips.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer E. "Joe Summers; her parents, Clarence and Etta Lee McGowan Montgomery; two brothers; and two sisters.
The funeral was March 14 at Roller-Farmers Union Chapel in Jonesboro with the Rev. Paul White and Dr. Ronnie Mayes officiating. Burial followed in Herman Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Stanley Rose, Troy Snell, Roger Williams, Brian Roedel, Craig Miler and Jeff McMillin.
Honorary pallbearers were Bill Summers, Scott Sherman, the Rev. Dub Adams, Eugene Sherman, the Rev. Marion Stinger, Dr. Doug Maglothin; staff of Dr. Doug Maglothin, and staff of Craighead Nursing Center.
Arrangements were by Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
