Helen A. Thorup, 87, of Sterling, Ill., formerly of Cherokee Village, died Nov. 24, 2002, in an automobile accident which also claimed the lives of her son, Charles Terry Robinson, and daughter-in-law, Barbara J. Robinson.
Born Oct. 15, 1915, in Harvard, Ill., she was the daughter of George and May Dixon Andrew. She married Charles F.W. Robinson in 1934. He died in 1977. She later married Victor Thorup. He died in 1990.
She was employed as a grocery store clerk at the A&P Store in Harvard. She was a member of Cherokee Village United Methodist Church and the DAR. She was an avid square dancer and golfer.
Survivors include a daughter, Gloria Anderson of Sterling; a stepdaughter, Marge Rogers of Cherokee Village; five grandchildren -- Lance Robinson, Gail Lawrence, Michelle Benish, Paulette Henry and Tamara Boyd; 14 great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and four stepgreat-granchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.
The funeral was Nov. 30 at Schilling Funeral Home with the Rev. Joseph Snider, pastor of Wesley United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial followed at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Harvard.
