Hazel Irene Welch, 88, of Ash Flat, died Nov. 13, 2001, at Baxter Regional Hospital in Mountain Home.
Born Oct. 23, 1913, in Ash Flat, she was the daughter of William Oscar and Vira Garner Evans. She was married to Scott Godwin Welch on Aug. 31, 1935, and was married over 50 years. They made Ash Flat their home She was a homemaker and a member of Ash Flat Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons, -- Wayburn Welch of Ash Flat and Dale Welch and his wife, Pat, of Sparta, Mo.; a daughter, Betty Garwood and her husband, Danny, of Melbourne; six grandchildren -- Veronda Welch, Cary and Kim Welch, Scott and Jo Garwood, Evan and Vicki Welch, and Brad and Robyn Welch; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law -- W.O. and Betty Evans of Fort Smith, and Lehman and Geraldine Evans of Ash Flat; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother and two sisters.
The funeral was Nov. 16 at Ash Flat Church of Christ with Jack Richardson officiating. Burial was in Baker Cemetery in Izard County. Arrangements were under the direction of Tri-County's Cherokee Chapel of Highland.
Pallbearers were Cary Welch, Brad Welch, Scott Garwood, Tim Garwood, Evan Welch and Fred Goodwin.
Memorials may be made to the Church of Christ Children's Home in Paragould.
