Iona Faye Nickels, 51, died June 2, 2004, in Hardy.
Born June 2, 1953, in Koshkonong, Mo., she was the daughter of Norval Hunsperger and Dowan Day Hunsperger.
She married Gary Nickels May 8, 1971, in Hardy. She was a homemaker, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Field Creek Pentecostal Church in Mammoth Spring.
Survivors include her husband, Gary, of the home in Mammoth Spring; a son, Tracy Nickels of Mammoth Spring; two daughters -- Amber Johnston and husband, Daryl, of Thayer, Mo., and Ashley Nickels of the home in Mam-moth Spring; five grandchildren -- Maranda Nickels, MaKayla Nickels, Madason Nickels, Tyler Johnston and Gracie Martin; four sisters -- Edith Sloan and husband, John, of Koshkonong, Patsy Hightower and husband, Bob, of Thayer, Hazel Johnson of Zebulon, Ga., and Betty Evans and husband, Doyle, of Hardy; a sister-in-law, Faye Cowens of West Plains, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Amy Michelle Nickels; a sister, Yvonne Johnson; three brothers -- J.L. Hunsperger, Bill Cowens and Frank Hunsperger; two nephews -- Kevin Hightower and Alan Hunsperger; and her father and mother-in-law -- Virgil and Irene Nickels.
The funeral was June 4 at Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer with Robert Aborn and David Roberts officiating.
Burial was in Wiles Cemetery at Ash Flat with arrangements under the direction of Carter Funeral Home Inc. of Thayer.
Pallbearers were Travis Evans, Andy Martin, Danny Murphy, Tim Evans, Sherman Garrison and Danny McGuire.
