J.T. Orr, 83, of Ash Flat died Dec 20, 2005, at the Fulton County Hospital in Salem.
Orr was born Jan. 26, 1922, in Ash Flat, the son of John Orr and Sophia Hotchkiss Orr. He attended Ash Flat High School until he was drafted into the United States Army during World War II. He was a POW and was a recipient of the Purple Heart.
Orr worked several years as an insurance salesman for Farmers Union Insurance Company. He was also an avid farmer all of his life.
He married Mary Sue Boothe on Oct. 11, 1952, in Mammoth Spring. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Cherokee Village.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Sue Orr of Ash Flat; one sister, Goldene Norris of Ash Flat; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, John Boothe Orr; two brothers, Wayne Orr and Clifton Orr; and three sisters, Faye Nix, Virgie King and Gladys Davis.
The funeral service was held Dec. 22 at Tri-County's Chapel in Highland with Dr. Larry White officiating. Burial followed in the Wiles Cemetery in Ash Flat with arrangements under the direction of Tri-County's Cherokee Chapel of Highland.
Pallbearers were Ronald Qualls, Lindel Estes, Darrell Taylor, Dan Max Orr, Sherman Ables and Danny McGuire.
