Mary J. James, 59, of Hardy died June 11, 2002, at her home.
Born Oct. 22, 1942, in Corning, N.Y., she was the daughter of Claude M. Wood and Alice B. Wright Wood. She moved to Hardy eight years ago from Knoxville, Pa. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband, Michael "Pud" James; four sons -- James Stratton of Woodhull, N.Y., Mike Stratton of San Diego, Richard Kelley Stratton of Long Island, N.Y., and Wade Causer of Woodhull, N.Y.; two daughters -- Tammy Gigee of Knoxville, Pa., and Bonnie Smith of Westfield, Pa.; a brother, Bruce Wood of Smithfield, N.C.; two sisters -- Dorothy Williams of Rathbone, N.Y., and Ruth Cole of Hardy; a sister-in-law, Twilla Wood of Westfield, Pa.; 10 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers -- Claude M. "Sonny" Wood Jr., and David J. Wood; and a sister, Sue Anne Wood.
The funeral was June 15 at Bradford Community Church near Ravenden with the Rev. Ferrel Duffel officiating. Burial followed in Bradford Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Tri-County's Cherokee Chapel of Highland.
