Jack Bartruff, 90, formerly of Chesterton, Ind., died July 3, 2004, at Eastern Ozarks Regional Health System in Cherokee Village.
Born in Balcom, Ill., he was the son of Rudolph and Rose Zeller Bartruff. He married Henrietta Marie Schindler Sept. 7, 1940, in South Bend, Ind.
He was a carpenter for over 40 years and was a member of the Illinois Carpenter Union Local 1005. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing and playing pinochle.
Survivors include sons -- Ken (Jo Ellen) Bartruff of Cherokee Village, and Steve (Nancy) Bartruff of Kingman, Ariz.; daughters -- Nancy Jones of Coppell, Texas, Sylvia (Gary) Phyllis of Montello, Wis., Joyce (Al) Buchta of Phoenix, and Marilyn Bartruff of Porter, Ind.; a brother, Robert Bartruff of Cowell, Ind.; a sister, Frances Davis of St. Louis; 28 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
His wife, parents and sister, Corlene Davis, preceded him in death.
The funeral was July 7 with the Rev. Father Gerald Schweitzer officiating. Burial followed in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens in Michigan, City, Ind.
Arrangements were under the direction of Tri-County's Cherokee Chapel of Highland.
