Jimmie Lind Chapin, 62, of Salem died June 22, 2004, at Salem.
Born July 25, 1941, in Manilla, he was the son Edmond and Litha Jane Crain Chapin. He spent his working years as a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and as a construction worker.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Survivors include his son, Phillip W. Chapin and wife, Tandy, of Kansas City; a stepson, Carl Jason Dorse of Poughkeepsie; a stepdaughter, Sherry Annette Dorse of Poughkeepsie; a brother, Danny Wayne Henden of Little Lamp, Texas; five sisters -- Linda Cunningham of Camp, Patsy Ann Rumage of Hardy, Sharon Kay Cunningham of Camp, Brenda Joyce Shepherd of Thayer, and Rosemary Cochran of Raneyville, Ky.; two grandsons -- Derrek and Devin Chapin; a stepgrandson, Kevin; and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A private memorial service was held June 25 at his sister's home. Arrangements were under the direction of Barker Funeral Home of Salem.
