James Jewell Christenberry, age 90, of Smithville, Ark., died April 7, 2007, at the Cave City Nursing Home in Cave City. He was born Oct. 11, 1916, in Sharp County, Ark., the son of the late Clee and Naomi (Powell) Christenberry.
He was a retired farmer and of the Baptist faith. Survivors include: his wife, Pauline (Mobley) Christenberry of Cave City; two sons, Wayne Christenberry of Smithville and James Christenberry of Benton; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; several nieces; and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by: his parents; two brothers, Ondus Christenberry and Enos Christenberry; and a sister, Earmel (Christenberry) Blevins. Funeral services were held April 9 at the Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with Bro. Vance Penn officiating. Burial followed in the Fairview Cemetery located east of Cave City with arrangements under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City. Pallbearers were Ronald Mobley, Lee Lewis, Billy Horton, Paul David Christenberry, Phillip Christenberry and Danny Hobby. Honorary pallbearers were Charlie Smith, Mack King, Jerry Lewis, Lloyd Perry and all employees and staff of the Cave City Nursing Home.
