John Harold Ciszewski, 65, of Mammoth Spring died July 7, 2003.
Born June 14, 1938, in Chicago, he was the son of Edna Halsten Ciszewski and John Ciszewski.
He was a member of the Chicago Police Department for 27 years (K-9 and homicide divisions). He was a former co-owner of Lakeview Dinette in Cherokee Village and a former district director of VFW Illiana Post 220 in Chicago.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean War. He was a member of Cherokee Village Lutheran Church, Elks Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Retired Chicago Police Association.
Survivors include his mother, Edna Halsten Ciszewski of Sarasota, Fla.; his wife, JoAnn Ciszewski of Mammoth Spring; a son, Jon R. Ciszewski of Chicago; two daughters -- Ronda Ciszewski of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Renee Rich of Crown Point, Ind.; a stepson, Calvin Bush of Sussex, Wis.; three stepdaughters -- Wendy King of Mammoth Spring, Sue Laybourn of Markesan, Wis., and Wanda Halley of Kenora, Ontario, Canada; seven grandchildren; a great-grandchild; nine stepgrandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; and a brother, William D. Ciszewski of Sarasota.
He was preceded in death by his father and a son, Robert J. Ciszewski.
The funeral was July 20 at Cherokee Village Lutheran Church with the Rev. Joan Ewaldsen officiating.
