J.D. Campbell, 80, of Evening Shade, died July 19, 2005, at the White River Medical Center in Batesville. He was born Feb. 15, 1925, at Manchester, Tenn. to John D. and Beaulah Evelyn Simmons Campbell. He was a retired plumber and was of the Assembly of God faith.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Florence Campbell of the home; two sons -- Chris Campbell of Burleson, Texas, and J.D. Campbell Jr., of Pensacola, Fla.; two daughters, Bonnie Blackwell and Ladonna Rogers, both of Paragould; two brothers -- J. L. Campbell of Brownsville, Tenn., and Gilly Campbell of Tuckerman; two sisters -- Ola Mae Call of Blytheville and Eunice Gray of Kirkwood, Mo.; four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers -- Author Campbell, Frank Campbell and Albert Campbell.
The funeral was July 23 at Quall Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with Rev. J.L. Campbell officiating. Burial followed in Powell's Chapel Cemetery located near Poughkeepsie with arrangements under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
Pallbearers were Donald Gray, Jeff Easley, David Campbell, Robert Timmons, Louis Calhoun and Bob Neitz.
Honorary pallbearers were Chris Benton and Douglas Clark.
