James D. "J.D." Dawson Jr., 86, of Mammoth Spring died March 5, 2005, at White River Medical Center in Batesville.
Born April 19, 1918, in Hardy, he was the son of James Dawson Sr. and Cora Hastings Dawson.
He was a member of Spring River Baptist Church in Hardy. He was a World War II veteran, a member of the VFW, American Legion, a 32nd degree Mason with membership at Wilson Lodge in Hardy, Spring River Shrine Club of Cherokee Village, Scottish Rite, Scimitar Shrine and was a realtor for 40 years.
Survivors include his wife, Faye Wright Goodman Dawson; four step-children -- Murhl Goodman, Bobby Goodman, Kenneth Goodman and Sandra Goodman Beck; nine step-grandchildren; a step-great-grandchild; a nephew, Jim Dawson; a niece, Colleen Dawson; a step-nephew, Ronnie Kelley; two great-nephews; and a great-niece.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers -- Roy and Hugh "Jack" Dawson.
The funeral was March 9 at Heath Oak Hill Chapel in Hardy.
Burial was at Bronaugh Cemetery. Floyd Rikard was the presiding minister.
