Joseph Douglas Halbach Jr., 77, of Germantown, Tenn., died Sept. 21, 2006, at his home.
He was a graduate of Northeast Louisiana University. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served during the Korean War, and was a retired general manager of Southern Laminating Co.
He was a member of Hardy First United Methodist Church, having served on the administrative board, finance committee and Methodist Men.
He also served on the Hardy City Council and fire department. He was a former national vice president of National Hardwood/Plywood Associa-tion, as well as a member of the Lions Club International and Lumberman's Club of Memphis. He was an avid woodworker and gardener.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Jo Daugherty Halbach of Germantown; daughter and son-in-law; Emily and Bryan Wilcox of Collierville; a son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Beth Halbach of Germantown; a brother, Robert Halbach of Brandon, Miss.; and four grandchildren.
Memorial services were held at the Hardy United Methodist Church Sept. 25 with Rev. Tom Rhoades officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hardy First United Methodist Church. Arrangements were under the direction of High Point Funeral Chapel of Memphis.
