James Pearson Forister, 96, of Ash Flat died May 23, 2003, at Eastern Ozarks Regional Health System in Cherokee Village
Born July 22, 1906, at Huron in Izard County, he was the son of Ivan Pearson and Sallie Small Forister.
He married Estella Viola Soward Oct. 3, 1925, at Hardy. During his working years, he was owner/operator of various grocery stores, and was in the real estate business in California. He was a member of Ward Street Church of Christ.
Survivors include his son, W.C. Forister of Renton, Wash.; a grandson, Steve Forister; two great-grandchildren -- Teresa Bachman and Davie Forister; two great-great-grandchildren -- Jarrod Bachman and Davie Forister; a nephew, Forest Knapp; three grand-nephews -- Bruce Knapp, Roy Knapp and Pat Morris; a niece, Lorraines Morris and a grand-niece, Judy Morris.
He was preceded in death by his wife in March 2000; a brother, Bennie Forister; three sisters -- Libby Knapp, Melissa Lankford and Margaret Sears; and his parents.
The funeral was May 25 at Wiles Cemetery in Ash Flat.
Arrangements were under the direction of Cox-Blevins Funeral Home.
