Joe Hill Vicry, 80, of Cherokee Village, died Sept. 19, 2003, at his home.
Born Oct. 22, 1922, in Hardy, he was the son of Joseph Henry Vicry and Bess Turner Vicry. He was a veteran of World War II. He was a district manager for Mid South/ARKLA Gas Company in Newport and also worked as a district manager for Michigan Gas Utilities. The company named their conference and training center after him.
He was a former member of the Lions Club, chamber of commerce, and the Elks Lodge in Coldwater, Mich., and was a member of Cherokee Village United Methodist Church and CVUMC Men's Club.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Walker Vicry of the home; a son, Thomas W. Vicry of Evansville, Tenn.; a daughter, Vickie Strickland of Cherokee Village; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
The funeral was Sept. 22 at Cherokee Village United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dewey Dark officiating. Burial followed in Hardy Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Tri-County's Cherokee Chapel of Highland.
In lieu of flowers memorials may made to the Eastern Ozarks Hospice or to the American Cancer Society.
