James Loyd Stroud, of Heart son of the late John Allen Stroud and Frankie Elizabeth Mooney Stroud, was born Aug. 6, 1932, in Ballard, Ark. He died Nov. 14, 2005, at his home at the age of 73 years.
He was married to Martha Williams on June 29, 1955, at Saddle. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a carpenter and a member of the Living Word Tabernacle.
Survivors include his wife, Martha of the home in Glencoe; his son, Rick Stroud, of Heart; his daughter, Rhonda Payne, of West Plains, Mo.; grandchildren, Erin Lemon of Salem, Lincoln Payne of West Plains, Weston Stroud of Heart, and Callie Stroud of Ash Flat; great-grandchildren, Layne Kirkland and Payton Schweiger; a brother, Ed Stroud of Heart; and sisters, Ethel Hall of Salem, Stella Waltrip of Salem, Opal Langston of Heart, and Claudine Newberry of Salem.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Violet Hall and Lethia Hollingsworth; and his father and mother.
The funeral service was held Nov. 16 at the Living Word Tabernacle with burial in Burks Chapel Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem.
