J. Paul Davis, 79, of Evening Shade, Ark., died Jan. 8, 2008, at the White River Medical Center in Batesville, Ark. He was born Aug. 21, 1928, at Powell's Chapel, Ark., the son of William Frank and Elsie Mae (Anderson) Davis.
He was a United States Army veteran having achieved the rank of Sergeant and served in Korea. He was a retired electrician and plumber, U.S. mail carrier and a farmer. He was a member of the Powell's Chapel Methodist Church.Survivors include: his wife of 50 years, Cora Lou Davis of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ricky and Cindy Davis of Heber Springs and Harlan and Rita Davis of Hardy; two daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Jerry Buie of Batesville and Laurie and Jeremy Weaver of Cave City; two sisters, Wanda Mae Oyler of Ash Flat and Bonnie Bradley of Poughkeepsie; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandson; several nieces; nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by: his parents and one brother, Charlie D. Davis.Funeral services were held Jan. 12 at the Evening Shade United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Morris and Johnnie Carter officiating. Burial followed in the Evening Shade Cemetery with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.Pallbearers were his nephews, Jerry Bradley, Terry Bradley, Nathan Bradley, Bob Bradley, Richard Bradley and Denny Gilbreath.Honorary pallbearers were the men of the Evening Shade United Methodist Church.
