Funeral services for Joyce VeNette Rice, 79, of Mammoth Spring were held Aug. 18 at Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer with Bro. Lee Hollis officiating.
She was born the daughter of the late T.R. Snyder and Charlotte Louis Pierce Snyder on Sept. 12, 1925, in Scott City, Kan., and died Aug. 14, 2005, in West Plains, Mo.
She was united in marriage in San Luis Obispo, Calif., in 1961 to Eugene Rice. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Post 7831 in Mammoth Spring and Women's Auxiliary of the Spring River Shrine Club of Cherokee Village. She worked in food service as a restaurant manager and bookkeeper for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Eugene Rice of the home in Mammoth Spring; three daughters, Janet Mae Cook and husband Marland of Howard City, Mich., Judy Jorene Hollis of Mammoth Spring, and Karen Rae Kalvar and husband Kent of Grand Junction, Colo.; two stepsons whom she raised, Timothy Glen (Penny) Rice and Ronald Gene Rice; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Melton, Truman and Grant Snyder; two sisters, Justeen and Audrey; and one son-in-law, Charles Hollis.
Burial followed in Riverside Cemetery under the direction of Carter Funeral Home.
