John W. Sharp, age 86, of Melbourne, formerly of Evening Shade, died April 5, 2007, at the Hospice House in Mountain Home. He was born on March 13, 1921, at Love, Ark., the son of Frank A. and Francis (Roberts) Sharp.
He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, a retired farmer, on the board of the ASCS office in Izard County and the Soil Conservation Board and a member of the Southern Baptist Church in Searcy. Survivors include: his wife, Nell Sharp of the home; two sons, Glennis Sharp of Cotter and Franky Sharp of Evening Shade; two daughters, Kathryn Ray of Evening Shade and Pam Billingsley of Mountain Home; one sister, Margaret "Tootsie" Jackson of Ash Flat; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; several nieces; nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; Lorah (Lankford) Sharp; and two sisters, Freda Fowler and Ethelene Johns. Services were held April 8 at the Myron Baptist Church located at Myron with Bro. Robert Hutchison officiating. Burial followed in the Roberts Cemetery located near Myron with arrangements under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City. allbearers were Van Thomas, Mike Sharp, Lonnie Haley, Skeeter Beene, Jason Rath and Billy Galla. onorary pallbearers were Hoyt Shell, Earl C. Haley, Ted Farris, W.E. Tompkins, Boyd Jackson and Guy Branscum.
