James W. "J.W." Tracy, 63, of Cave City died Aug. 9, 2003, at White River Medical Center in Batesville.
Born March 29, 1940, at Leeton, Mo., he was the son of Lance B. and Loacie Turner Tracy. He was a retired equipment operator for the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department, a member of the Northside Volunteer Fire Department and a member of New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church near Charlotte.
Survivors are his wife, Helen Cossey Tracy of the home; a son, Darren Tracy of Cave City; three sisters -- Mary Tyson and Billie Lewallen, both of Hot Springs, and Geneva Barber of California; five grandchildren -- Anthony Tracy, Kyle Tracy, Malachi Tracy and Sherrie Brady, all of Charlotte, and Jessica McGaha of Batesville; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a stepson, E.A. James.
The funeral was Aug. 12 at New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church near Charlotte with Cliff Liles and Tony Moser officiating. Burial was in Charlotte Cemetery.
Pallbearers were members of Northside VFD.
Honorary pallbearers were his grandsons and great-grandsons -- Anthony Tracy, Kyle Tracy, Malachi Tracy, Shawn McGaha, Brandon McGaha and Robert Brady.
