Kevin Joe Hightower, 37, of West Plains, Mo., died May 12, 2003, at Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains.
Born Aug. 24, 1965, in West Plains, he was the son of Bobby J. Hightower and Patsy Hunsperger Hightower. He was of the Catholic faith.
He was a college student, having earned a master's degree in mental illness and rehab of alcohol and drug counseling, and a doctorate degree in fine arts and theater.
Survivors include his parents, Bobby J. and Patsy Hightower of West Plains; five aunts -- Virginia Murphy and her husband, Danny, of Ash Flat, Edith Sloan and her husband, John, of Koshkonong, Mo., Hazel Johnson of Zebulon, Ga., Betty Evans and her husband, Doyle, of Hardy, and Iona Nickels and her husband, Gary, of Mammoth Spring.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jody and Vera Hightower, and Norval and Dowan Hunsperger; an aunt, Yvonne Johnston; and two uncles -- John Hunsperger and Bill Cowens.
The funeral was May 15 at Carter Funeral Home Chapel in West Plains with Robert Aborn officiating. Burial was in Wayside Cemetery in Howell County, Mo.
Arrangements were under the direction of Carter Funeral Home of West Plains.
