Kenneth Ruminer, 87, of Batesville died Sept. 7, 2005, at a Batesville nursing home. He was born Dec. 8, 1817, in Mt. Pleasant, Ark., the son of Esco and Molly Walker Ruminer.
He was united in marriage to Mary Edith Hall on Aug. 24, 1942, at Mt. Pleasant. He was retired from AP&L with 35 years of service and then worked part time for 17 years at Clinic Dug Store in Batesville.
He was a member of the Mt. Zion Masonic Lodge #10. He was a charter member and deacon of First Free Will Baptist Church in Batesville.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Edith Ruminer of the home; three daughters -- Vonda Johnston of Batesville, Shay King of Strawberry, and Ina Provence of Cave City; one son, Ronnie Ruminer of Batsville; one brother, Vaughn Ruminer of Batesville; two sisters -- Zelda Smith of Washington, and Euvene Lake of Wisconsin; nine grandchildren -- Melissa Taylor of Pleasant Plains, Scotty Johnston of Rosie, Tonya Benton of Drasco, Tabetha Jefferson of Concord, Christi Provence of Cave City, Alison Estrada of Batesville, Brian Johnston of Rosie, and Marcus Keller and Ashley Keller, both of Piggott; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers.
The funeral service was held Sept. 10 at First Free Will Baptist Church in Batesville with Bro. Bobby Shepherd, Bro. Glenn Murray and Bro. David Joslin officiating. Burial followed in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens at Batesville with arrangements under the direction of Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville.
Pallbearers were Scotty Johnston, Brian Johnston, Chris Provence, Marcus Keller, Billy Hall and Mark Crawford.
Honorary pallbearers were Ransom Pogue and Junior Stevens.
