Lorene Brown Soward, 72, of Ash Flat died Jan. 1, 2003, at her home.
Born Feb. 15, 1930, at Evening Shade, she was the daughter of Earl and Maud Elizabeth Ferguson Brown. She was a certified nursing assistant, having worked at Ash Flat Convalescent Center, Horseshoe Bend Nursing Home and Cherokee Village Recreation Center. She was active in Indian Hills Bowling League and was a member of Ash Flat Church of Christ.
Survivors are her husband, Hubert Soward; a daughter, Renee Bell of Batesville; a brother, Nelson Brown of Batesville; three sisters -- Fay Frazier and Lillian Stroud, both of Evening Shade, and Norma Smith of Cave City; two grandchildren -- Chris Phillips of Little Rock and Carla Duncan of Batesville; a great-grandson, Bradley Phillips of Little Rock; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Velma Polk.
The funeral was Jan. 4 at Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with Boyce Gale Johnson officiating. Burial was in Antioch Cemetery at Zion.
