Lora Armstrong Cathey, 88, of Broken Bow, Okla., died Oct. 14, 2002, at her residence.
Born Aug. 8, 1914, at Wirth, she was a homemaker. She also taught school in Oklahoma and Arkansas for several years. She enjoyed quilting, sewing and working in the garden. She was a member of Eastside Missionary Baptist Church in Broken Bow.
She married Floyd N. Cathey Sept. 9, 1941, in Hardy. They made their home in Broken Bow for 48 years after moving from Thayer, Mo.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years; a son and daughter-in-law, Noel and Connie Cathey of Broken Bow; two daughters and sons-in-law -- Carmen and John Rhyne and Loretta and Tommy Wilson, all of Broken Bow; two sisters -- Dorothy Keiss of Mena, and Inez Keiss of Watson; six grandchildren and their spouses -- Steve and Vicki Rhyne, Brandon and Beverly Cathey, Pamela Wilson, Angela Wilson, Beth Wilson and Melissa Cathey; three great-grandchildren -- Ty Cathey, Morgan Barrett and Gabriella Rhyne; and four special caregivers -- Alene, Twilla, Pat and Marcella.
She was preceded in death by her parents, R. Landon Armstrong and Sarah E. Murphy; a son, James Ray Cathey; a grandson, Michael Rhyne; two brothers; and three sisters.
The funeral was Oct. 17 at the Norwood-Coffey-Leonard Chapel in Broken Bow with John Rushing officiating. Interment was in the Broken Bow Cemetery.
