Leslie Earl Mayhew Sr., 76, of Hardy, was born Oct. 29, 1928, in West Frankfort, Ill., the son of Franklin Mayhew and Oneda Muir Mayhew. He died Sept. 23, 2005, at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home.
He attended Faith Baptist Church at Wirth.
Survivors include his wife, Esther Hulford Mayhew of the home; two sons, Gary Wayne Mayew of Anaheim, Calif., and Leslie Earl Mayhew Jr. of Oak Lawn, Ill.; two daughters, Oneda Darlene Nerren of El Paso, Colo., and Brenda Sue Duffie of Mokena, Ill.; one brother, Ira Joe Mayhew of West Frankfort, Ill.; two sisters, Betty Overturf of Union City, Tenn., and Francis Dean Cluck of Union City, Tenn.; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral was held Sept. 25 at Faith Baptist Church in Wirth with Bro. Mike Conors officiating. Burial was Sept. 28 in Beverly Cemetery in Evergreen Park, Ill., with local arrangements under the direction of Heath Funeral Home of Hardy. Smits DeYoung Funeral Home of South Holland, Ill., was in charge of the arrangements in Illinois.
