Lela Mae Hubbs, 70, of Horseshoe Bend died Sept. 12, 2003, at the St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. She was born March 5, 1933, in Union County, Ill., the daughter of Albert Watkins and Ruth Hastings Watkins.
She was retired from Flosheim Shoe Company in Anna, Ill., where she worked as a top stitcher. She was united in marriage to William W. Hubbs on May 10, 1956, in Pocahontas, Ark. She was a member of the Ozark Mountain Music Makers since 1974, and served as both a secretary and reporter for the organization. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include one daughter, Betty Fisher of Jonesboro, Ill.; one son, Milton Wayne Hubbs of Jonesboro, Ill.; three brothers -- Robert Watkins of Julian, Calif., Paul Watkins of Laughlin, Nev., and Howard Watkins of Springfield, Ill.; and two grandsons -- Will and Blake Hubbs.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Kathern Marie Hubbs; and one sister, Zelma Sweitzer.
There are no services planned at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of the Horseshoe Bend Memorial Chapel.
