Lehman W. Evans, 79, of Ash Flat, Ark., died March 23, 2008, at the Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Mo. He was born Sept. 29, 1928, in Ash Flat, Ark., the son of Oscar and Vira (Garner) Evans.
He was united in marriage to Geraldine Endsley on July 20, 1948, in Evening Shade, Ark. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked many years as a carpenter for the Horseshoe Bend Builders Company before retiring. He was a member of the Ash Flat Church of Christ. He is survived by: his wife, Geraldine M. Evans of the home; one daughter, Brenda Smith of Ash Flat; two granddaughters, Cristy Sellers of Bryant, Ark., and Patricia Story of Bono, Ark.; two great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held March 26 at the Ash Flat Church of Christ with Keith Gregson officiating. Burial followed in the Wiles Cemetery at Ash Flat with arrangements under the direction of the Tri-County Funeral Home of Hardy, Ark. Pallbearers were Danny Gibson, Marty Goodwin, Martin Carpenter, Gerald Powell, Fred Gallo and Fred Goodwin. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Nix, Dan Or and Dennis Seiwert. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorials be made to the Paragould Children's Home or to the Ash Flat Church of Christ.
