Leatha Lavada Yates, 88, of Ash Flat died Sept. 15, 2002, at her home.
Born Dec. 8, 1913, in Sharp County, she was the daughter of John Hill and Stella Heart Hill. She married Ed Yates in January 1937 in Sharp County. She was a member of Spring River Baptist Church of Hardy. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include eight sons and seven daughters-in-law -- Burlin and Irene Yates of Holland, Mich., Ronald Jacky Yates of Ash Flat, Wendell and Sue Yates of Hartford City, Ind., Jearl and Martha Yates of Hardy, Larry and Barbara Yates of Hardy, Jim and Pam Yates of Hardy, John and Roberta Yates of Denver, Ind., and Ricky and Terri Yates of Hardy; four daughters and sons-in-law -- Billie and Floyd Fuller of Hardy, Kathryn and Mack Hawkins of Hartford City, Ind., Sharon and Troy Eversoll of Glencoe, and Shelia and Kenneth Pittman of Russellville; a brother, Leonard Hill of Paragould; three sisters -- Leona Yates of Paragould, Kathleene Scott of Holland, and Lois Ledford of Douglas, Mich.; 35 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, two daughters-in-law; and a granddaughter.
The funeral was Sept. 18 at Tri-County's Cherokee Chapel at Highland with the Rev. Floyd Rikard officiating. Burial followed at Bradford Cemetery near Ravenden.
Arrangements were under the direction of Tri-County's Cherokee Chapel of Highland.
