Mart James Abney, 90, of Agnos died Aug. 22, 2003, at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home.
Born Feb. 25, 1913, in Stuart, Okla., he was son of Raymond Oscar and Laura Ethel Godwin Abney.
He married Hattie Pricilla Jackson Feb. 16, 1938, at Agnos. To this union, seven children were born.
He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a farmer, a logger and a member of Agnos Church of Christ.
Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law -- Gene and Mary Abney of Evening Shade, James and Linda Abney, and Dean and Patti Abney, all of Agnos; his daughters and sons-in-law -- Faye and Glenn Bishop of Agnos, Aletta and Herb Pitchford of Glencoe, Gayle and Russell Tanner, and Rhonda and Billy Smart, all of Agnos; 15 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; four brothers -- Odes, Everett, Grippie and Vernon Abney; his sister, Bunice Abney; and his parents.
The funeral was Aug. 25 at Agnos Church of Christ with Jack Richardson officiating. Burial was at Agnos Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem.
Pallbearers were grandsons -- Kenny Abney, Gary and Stephen Tanner, Barry and Tim Abney, Stu Smart, Bobby Tharp and Derek Winter.
Honorary pallbearers were Terry Wycoff, Brad Jeffers, Cody Clayton and Casey Statler.
