Robert F. "Bob" Maraman, 80, died Aug. 11, 2002, in Melbourne. A native of Paragould, he attended college in Detroit, Mich., the University of Alabama, Millsaps College in Jackson, Miss., and at the University of Tennessee. He was a World War II veteran having served as a communications technician in Signal Corps, 12th Armored Division.
Before his retirement to Cherokee Village in 1986, he was the chief chemist at Vicksburg Chemical Company in Vicksburg, Miss., for 23 years. He was a member of Spring River Presbyterian Church in Hardy and a former member of Hawkins United Methodist Church in Vicksburg, Miss., and was very involved in music in both churches.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Doris Maraman; one son, Alan Maraman and daughter-in-law, Linda Maraman of Zachary, La.; one daughter, Lisa Dabney and son-in-law, Bryan Dabney of Vicksburg; and three grandchildren, Allison Maraman, Jeffrey Maraman and Thomas Dabney.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mort and Bessie Maraman; one brother, Buddy Maraman; and one sister, Shirley Maraman Glossinger.
A private service was held in Cherokee village. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Spring River Presbyterian Church in Hardy or Peace Lutheran Church in Cherokee Village. Arrange-ments were by Roller Funeral Home of Mountain Home.
