Clessie Alice Mattis, 81, died Feb. 21, 2002, in West Plains, Mo.
Born Oct. 13, 1920, in Hardy, she was daughter of John R. Gillihan and Nancy A. Porter Gillihan. She was a homemaker and a member of Thayer Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include three children -- Mary Ann Wolf of Tulsa, Okla, Riley Todd of Ash Flat, and Virginia Gunsolus of Mountain Home; a brother, Eddie Gillihan of Sapulpa, Okla.; a sister, Effie Reed of Ash Flat; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers -- Leroy, Melvin and John Clay Gilliham; and two sisters -- Melba Gillihan and Bessie Hardmon.
The funeral was Feb. 23 at Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer with the Rev. Lance Rogers officiating. Burial followed in Thayer Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Johnny Gunsolus, Sam Wolf, Tom Taylor, Dan Wolf, Stephen Hart and George Taylor.
