Mildred Billingsley, 89, daughter of the late George W. Campbell and Cora Beaver Campbell, was born Nov. 6, 1915, in Violet Hill. She died Oct. 3, 2005, in Melbourne. She was united in marriage to Ewell "Cotton" Billingsley on Jan. 9, 1931, in Violet Hill.
She was a homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. She helped Cotton operate their dairy farm. She was also a mail carrier for many years. Mildred was an active member of the Fairview Baptist Church for 77 years. She was a 50-year member of the Violet Hill Extension Homemakers Club.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Jackie and Jim Drake of Lake Whitney, Texas, and Carol and Bernard Sexton of Franklin; one son and daughter-in-law, Glen and Joanna Billingsley of Violet Hill; five grandchildren, Kelly Powell of Violet Hill, Chris Powell of Bee Branch, Alice May of Austin, Texas, Billy Bob Billingsley of Cave City and Curtis Glen Billigsley of Violet Hill; nine great-grandchildren, Kirby Powell, Lindey Powell, Carly Powell, Jonathan Powell, Jasmine May, Dakaota Billingsley, Becky Beth Billinsley, B.J. Billingsley and Keigan Billingsley; a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 64 years; one sister, Pauline Bullard; two brothers, Glennis Campbell and Thomas E. Campbell; and two infants.
The funeral service was held Oct. 6 at Fairview Baptist Church in Violet Hill with Randy Scaggs officiating. Burial was in Violet Hill Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.
Pallbearers were Lindle Blevins, Bill Shaver, Kevin Hardaway, Don Glasser, Doyle Weaver and Mike Box.
Honorary pallbearers were ladies Sunday school class members.
