Martha Louise Carpenter, 86, of Batesville died Feb. 7, 2004, at Rolling Hills Nursing Center in Batesville.
Born Jan. 21, 1918, at Leslie, she was the daughter of Gene and Edna E. Coffman Pyle. She was a retired restaurant owner and a member of Central Avenue United Methodist Church in Batesville.
Survivors include two sons -- Nathan Ted Carpenter of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Arthur G. Carpenter of Fort Morgan, Ky.; a daughter, Jane Hodge of Batesville; five grandchildren -- Ryan Carpenter of Omaha, Neb., Tim Carpenter of Otley, Iowa, Zac Carpenter of Phoenix, Rhonda Hodge of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Jeff Hodge of Huntington, Beach, Calif; two great-grandchildren -- Katie Louise Carpenter of Otley, and Alexander Robert Hodge of Colorado Springs; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Nathan Carpenter; two brothers -- Bob Pyle and Eugene Pyle; and a sister, Eugenia Pyle.
The funeral was Feb. 11 at Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with the Rev. Marcia Dodd and the Rev. Joe Linam officiating. Burial was in Cave City Cemetery with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
Pallbearers were Tim Carpenter, Ryan Carpenter, Zac Carpenter, Donny Joe McKenzie, Ron Hodge and Ricky Ballard.
