Mary E. Guynn was born July 6, 1921in Logan N.M. She died Nov. 6, 2005.
She grew up there and then attended New Mexico State University in Las Cruces. She graduated with a degree in education. She met her husband, Peter Guynn Jr., while he was stationed at nearby Fort Bliss and she was teaching in Las Cruces.
After the war they moved to Chicago, Ill. Mary taught elementary school in Burbank, Ill., for 30 years.
Upon retiring, Pete and Mary moved to Cherokee Village. They enjoyed golfing, bowling and square dancing for many years.
In 2000, eight years after the death of her husband, Mary moved to Durango to join her daughter, granddaughter and son-in-law. She was a weekly card player at the Senior Center.
