Mildred Thomas, 80, of Evening Shade, Ark., died March 13, 2008, at her home. She was born Jan. 16, 1928, at Oxford, Ark., the son of Houston and Cassie Yancey.
She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.Survivors include: two sons, Buster Thomas of Evening Shade and Malcom Thomas of Cherokee Village; two daughters, Verlene Barber of Floral and Sue Johnston of Evening Shade; five grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two brothers; two sisters; and many other relatives and friends.She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, R.J. Thomas; three brothers; and four sisters.Funeral services were held March 17 at the Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with Bro. Alvin Wiles officiating. Burial followed in the Bear Creek Cemetery west of Evening Shade with arrangements under the direction of the Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City, Ark.Pallbearers were her grandsons, Jason Bickford, Robbie Thomas, Michael Thomas, Brian Sherrod, Major Harris and Bradley Harris.Honorary pallbearers were Frank Arnold, Leonard McKenzie, Bill Little and Kenny Love.
