Madonna Hampton Mathes, 54, of Cherokee Village died March 2, 2003, at her home.
Born March 30, 1948, she was the daughter of Duncan and Hazel Sturgill Hampton. She was an assistant manager of Dollar General Store in Ash Flat and a member of First Baptist Church of Hardy.
Survivors include her husband, Melvin Lawrence Mathes of Cherokee Village; a son, Scott and Galle Sparks of Blytheville; a daughter, Cynthia Fields of Lexington, Ky.; a son-in-law, Timathy Hurd of Lexington, Ky.; two grandchildren -- Megan and Colton Taylor; several nephews; a brother, James Hampton of Eolia, Ky.; and two sisters, Julie Exley of Prestonsburg, Ky., and Mary Ann King of Florance, Ky.
The funeral was March 5 at First Baptist Church in Hardy with Farrel Duffel officiating. Burial was in Bluegrass Cemetery in Lexington, Ky.
Local arrangements were by Heath Funeral Home of Hardy.
